HAPPY NEW YEAR
Roof Replacement
The Board has now begun the work of replacing our pine shakes. Residential Roofing Consultants have prepared the specification which has been sent out to roofing contractors and the bids have now been received. Contractors have been asked to quote with best price for 3 scenarios: one time project, spread over 2 years, spread over 3 years.
Two products have been selected: a) Windsor asphalt shingle made by Malarkey. b) Recycled rubber based shingle made by Euroshield. The Reserve Fund has money for the Windsor shingle. The rubber based shingle is about 25% more money and will require a special assessment. The life expectancy for each product is: Windsor – 35 years; Euroshield – 50 years. We are currently in the process of evaluating the bids, selecting the colour, selecting the contractor and then schedule the work to start this spring/summer.
Block Watch Update
The Villas continues to be a Block Watch Community which basically means we keep a watchful eye out for anything in our complex which might give cause for alarm – garage doors open, newspapers and flyers accumulating on doorsteps, people who don’t appear to belong in the neighbourhood prowling around etc. Also, if you are going to be away for more than a few days, please provide Linda Marchuk with a contact name and phone number of a person who has access to your unit in the event of an emergency. On reviewing our list of contact information we noticed that a number of units have not provided us with this information and in some cases the information is obviously out of date. Thank you to those who have already updated their information.
Snow Angel
A big ‘Thank you’ goes out to Don Clark, (#106) for his willingness to help shovel snow both for his neighbours and for all of us who use the bus stop on Rocky Ridge Drive.
FUTURE EVENTS:
Canada 150
To build community and to celebrate Canada’s Sesquicentennial, several residents have suggested developing a project. As a result we would like to get together to discuss how we might create a space around the mailboxes that will nurture community for the residents of Rocky Ridge Villas.

Pub Lunch
Mark your calendar for the next Pub Lunch to be held at Mad Rose Pub on Wednesday, January 25. We’ll plan to be there by 11:30 am. Offer to drive your neighbour. A poster reminding you about this will be displayed on the bulletin board for the week immediately before the event.
Early Morning Breakfast
We have now visited Eggs Oasis three times for breakfast. With ten neighbours meeting for breakfast at 8:00 am when the temperature is -22° C we know this must be a successful event. The next early morning breakfast event will be February 7th. A poster will appear on the bulletin board as a reminder.
Pot Luck
Join the Rocky Ridge Rockers for a pot luck lunch.
When: Tuesday, February 14, 2017 (Valentine’s Day) at 12:00 noon
Where: The Ranch Centre (Room to be announced)
