THE ROCKY RIDGE VILLAS ANNUAL SOCIAL 2016

 

Our 2016 annual social held on Saturday, August 20th at 113 Rocky Ridge Villas.

 

Thirty four residents attended this year’s social. The weather for the event was mild in the shade but was blazing hot in the afternoon sun of the front street so we ate at the back of the villa where it was far more tolerable. The social was a great opportunity for residents at opposite ends of the complex to get reacquainted and for close neighbours to visit with each other. 

 

Happily the chair that was left orphaned at last year’s social was reunited with its rightful owner at this one.  The only item to go missing at this year’s event was the ‘rabbit’ from Dick Shannon’s rabbit trap!  We’ll all be watching out for it.

 

As hosts for this year’s event, we would like to sincerely thank all the residents who so generously brought food, cooked, provided tables, or helped with set-up and clean-up. 

If you would be willing to host next year’s summer social Carol and Allan have a wealth of ideas to share with you.  You’ll also find plenty of other residents that will be eager to lend you a hand.  If you’ll host, the volunteers will come!

 

Rocky Ridge Villas Website - A guide

 

Earlier in August, I (Allan Rix) uploaded several web pages about our Villas to create our first rudimentary website.  I have intended it to both represent our Villas to the wider community and also be a local source of information about our corporation. To view the website just enter rockyridgevillas.ca into the address bar in your web browser and press return or enter on the keyboard. You’ll be taken immediately to the Home Page of the website.

 

Most of the information shared on our website is available, without restriction, to anyone browsing through the site. There is one page, however, that contains private information which has been restricted to the owners and residents only.  This can be found on the Condo Documents page.

 

Currently on the Condo Documents page there are five links (places to click on).  The first four are not password protected but the fifth one (called Restricted Access Page) requires a password to navigate any further.  When you click here you’ll be taken to the Resident’s Access where you’ll be directed to click to attempt to gain access.  I have established a common password we will all use to view the protected documents.  Please send an email to me and I’ll send along that password to you. It has not been included in the newsletter because some copies are printed rather than distributed online and I don’t want circulating copies of our password to be released to the general public. Also, our newsletters can be viewed on our website so I ask that you please not share the password with anyone outside of the Villas. They have no need to have access to our information.

 

Take a tour through the site and feel free to pass along your comments and suggestions to me.  I may not be able to make the changes you might like at this time but I’m learning more every day and I may be able to soon!

Owner’s Insurance Coverage

 

Our recent flood event at the west end resulted in water getting into the basement at units #225 & 227. Both units have their basements developed which, as you recall, is an improvement and is the responsibility of the owner to repair any damage. This highlights the necessity that each owner have adequate insurance coverage for such an event.
