RECYCLING
PROGRAM
Now that we have had our recycling program in
place for a few months, your Board of Directors is of the opinion that reusing
the bags supplied by the recycling company is not a very efficient operation.
When the bags are returned for reuse, they have to be bundled for distribution
and some bags have to be discarded because they are ripped or soiled. Having
residents pick up bags from the three distribution centres is also problematic
because the distributors are not always home and may be away for extended
periods on vacation.
For these reasons, the Board is recommending the
distribution of the reusable bags be stopped and, instead, each resident be
responsible for purchasing their own clear garbage bags. These bags are
available at grocery stores and home renovation centres (
Home Depot sells clear 31" x 42" bags for $11.00 for a box of
40 bags). These bags would be smaller and easier to handle than the ones we are
currently using. Although these bags would not be reused, they would be
recycled along with their contents and the problems associated with
redistributing reusable bags would be eliminated.
If you are in agreement with this
recommendation, you need do nothing. If you would prefer to continue with the
present system, please let a Board member know either by phone or by email. At
the same time, please indicate if you would be willing to volunteer to serve as a distributor. If enough people indicate a
preference for the current system, the Board will conduct an official survey. A
final decision will be made at the April Board meeting and residents will be
informed shortly thereafter as to how we will proceed.
Preventative
Maintenance Inspection Report
Enclosed with your Villas news is a Preventative
Maintenance Inspection report. In order for us, the Board, to keep an
up-to-date analysis of the regular maintenance requirements of our Villas, we
are asking each owner to complete the inspection report by April 8, noting any
areas requiring attention. A volunteer will be coming by your villa to discuss
the report with you and pick up the report as well. Once all of the reports
have been received the Board will make arrangements to have the deficiencies
corrected in due course. The chart at the end of this newsletter represents the
Preventative Maintenance Inspection Report referred to above.
Back
Yards
It has been noted that some owners are using
their back patios or the area under their decks as storage areas. Please
consider how this looks to your neighbours who can see your back yards. Bylaw
62(b)(xxiii) states “Do not use the deck or patio or
other areas outside of the building for the storage of personal belongings or
other goods or chattels or allow or cause any household or personal effects or
articles belonging to the Owner to be kept anywhere except inside the Building
of the Unit when not in actual use."
